evolution is "just a theory"

I have a hard time with an educated person (assuming someone with "Dr" before their name has gone to school) believing that evolution is "just a theory". It's a theory in the same way gravity is a theory! The only question about it is if evolution was brought about by natural selection alone, or if there are other factors involved. Evolution is fact, even if the religious folks would rather be blind and ignorant to it, that doesn't change it.

Theres a lot of things that have been declared facts, believed by millions, and turned out not to be true. Facts are hard to come by when your AlwaysSkeptical

 There's present day evidence of evolution per microorganisms. Like when the bird flu evolved and jumped to humans, or HIV from a primate species to humans, for example. Or how the common flu virus is developing it's own resistances to vaccines, or bacteria to antibiotics. They evolve by adapting to their environment, or they die. Evolution is clearly fact.

I wonder why the sacred text of the gods

  I wonder why the sacred text of the gods (the Bible, the Quran, etc.) are so open to such varied interpretations? Why is god so shrouded in mystery? Why doesn't he just show himself to the world and end the debate once and for all? (same goes for SantaClaus as well) If Allah created us in the best mould why are such fuck ups?

 I was reading about Edgar Cayce last night, about The Book of Life. I didn't know he was a devout Christian. I was curios about him after a good friend read some book excerpts to me, I sensed he was a good human.
I believe this question goes to "the fall", and it saddens me that over centuries man has perverted The Book, especially turning it into "history".
I'm not religious, but have a growing appreciation for . It's a huge shame that our civilizers attack and stigmatize this critical "thing", that is foundational to our, and all human's civilizations. Regardless of religious beliefs or lack of them, it's hugely important.

It was by example of my many Muslim friends that I came to have this growing respect.
